Oil on Canvas When we remember spaces, especially those familiar to us, we are not seeing the space, but a projection of our feelings and memories onto it. While the rooms I paint are abstract, to me they seem more authentic than a photorealistic rendering of the space. I am primarily interested in color, the way colors work together in system, and how they can capture an aura. The spaces in this series feel magical, warm, and inviting to me because of the color palate and my specific relationship to those colors and the spaces depicted. However, these spaces may not necessarily feel inviting to another individual because of their personal relationship with color and space, and that’s okay too. |
